Visiting Scholar at ISSG AY26/27
Lamyaâ Achary is a political sociologist, human rights researcher, and Pan-African feminist whose work focuses on North Africa. They hold a PhD in Sociology and bring years of field-based experience documenting SOGIESC-related rights violations across the region. Their current research asks how queer and feminist movements use archiving, cultural production, and storytelling as tools of resistance under criminalization and shrinking civic space. They held the Global LGBTQI+ Human Rights Fellowship at the Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights at Harvard Kennedy School (2025 to 2026) and serve on the board of the African Women's Development Fund.
