Elaine Combs-Schilling Memorial Fund

The Elaine Combs-Schilling Memorial Fund was established in 2017 in memory of Elaine Combs-Schilling (1949-2016), Professor of Anthropology and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Elaine found intellectual excitement and feminist community at the Institute, and the fund established in her name gives ISSG graduate students an opportunity to pursue summer archival research and travel in support of their doctoral work through the Elaine Combs-Schilling Memorial Fellowship. It also opens up the larger university community to cutting-edge scholarship in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies by supporting the Elaine Combs-Schilling Memorial Lecture by a major scholar in the field.
